"Not prepared to travel over the city for an appointment"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Urogynaecology

(as the patient),

I was referred to urogynaecology a year ago.

I received an appointment to attend the Victoria Ambulatory Hospital at 09:00.

The problem I have is that I live in the east end of the city, I am 79 years old and would require to take three buses to get to this hospital. I am the main carer for my husband who has Alzheimer’s dementia and would require to get help in at 7 am to give me the travelling time required in the morning rush hour.

I emailed the appointment department asking if I could get an appointment nearer home - Stobhill or GRI.

The appointment person got back to me saying that a change of venue is not possible because this clinic is only held at Victoria Hospital.

I know that this particular type of clinic is mainly for older women and ask why there is no option.

I always thought that the redesign of the hospital services in Glasgow would give the patients a better choice

I have already cancelled this appointment simply because I am not prepared to travel over the city when there are hospitals nearer my home
