The communication and service from contacting my GP practice to being seen and treated at the dermatology clinic was excellent. It made me feel confident and happy in my care and the service provided.
About 5 weeks ago, when on holiday, I noticed a new strange growth on my scalp in my hair. I was worried it could be a cancer or something dodgy. On return from holiday I contacted my GP practice for an appointment. The receptionist was very helpful and arranged for me to see Dr McGill at Cardonald Medical practice a few days later. The doctor told me that they thought it was a benign wart, but would refer me to Dermatology. However, I would need to send in a photo of the growth by email which I did.
Within a week I got a call from the dermatology appointments line. I was unable to answer the phone and they left a message to phone back. However when I phoned back on the number they gave me the phone rang out. I tried about 3-4 times, then phoned the general NHSGGC appointments line from a number I found on line. The lady at the other end was very helpful and said she would email the team and get them to phone me back. She did and they phoned back within 5 minutes and offered me a cancelation appointment for the end of January. The appointments people were so helpful and polite.
I was seen by Dr Drummond (consultant dermatologist) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He gave a clear explanation that the growth was a begin wart which may grow, but could be burnt or scraped away, and explained the procedures. I agreed to it being removed by scraping. Then went down the corridor to see the specialist dermatology nurse who explained the procedure and follow up, and removed the wart. All done within 25min.
Excellent service. Brilliant people. Thank you.
