I have spent the past 3 hours 45 minutes trying, to get through to outpatients appointments for urology in the New Victoria Glasgow. The numbers on the letter either constantly ring out with no answer or a answer machine cuts in asking for an extension number, which there is not one on the letter.
I find it unacceptable that not one person has answered the phone numbers on the appointment letter in all that time. I understand the NHS is busy but for no clerical staff to answer a phone in that length of time is extremely poor practice. No wonder people just don’t turn up for appointments when they can not get an answer on the phone after constantly trying for nearly 4hours. Is there a clerical strike within GGC that we have not been informed about?
If no one answers by lunchtime there will be another non show appointment tomorrow, not through my lack of trying to contact to rearrange appointment but through lack of staff not answering the phone numbers quoted on appointment letters. This is a gross mis-management of patients and NHS time
