Attended a routine scan on the middle of Jan to find the growth of our son had dropped, we were referred by scanning to the day clinic where we saw a lovely doctor who was very informative and advised induction just based on the information at hand and were sent down to triage to receive a sweep by one of the triage midwifes who said it was very successful.
We were given an induction date for the coming Tuesday and sent on our way, my partners waters broke the same night and contractions started after some delay. We attended triage for a physical examination to find my partner was unfortunately only 2cm dialated, Hannah was absolutely amazing and very informative and recommended we go home as the hospital enviroment could delay the latent phase even longer, we went home and my partner was getting increasingly worse over the 2 hours we remained at home.
We phoned triage again and was invited back in by hannah for a further exam and by this point my partner was struggling to walk, the staff were very welcoming and swiftly got a wheelchair and we wheeled her to the bay where Hannah was straight into our bay and could see the agony my partner was in and she did not mess about getting the ball rolling, she did another physical examination and found out she was 6cm and was ready to be taken to labour.
Unfortunately there was no labour staff readily available to receive so Hannah accompanied us to Labour and remained with us the entire time. Things were progressing so fast but the labour Student midwife Amy (unsure of spelling, apologies) and Hannah were so level headed and calm. My partner was in so much pain but they provided such a supportive environment and were able to give clear and decisive direction in my opinion they had went above and beyond expectations. The birthing plan had already went clean out the window at this point as it progressed beyond the point of epidural and they were able to deliver our baby within minutes.
My partner required a bit of after care due to a tear and Kylie was so professional and caring when it came to suturing her up and also made it such a humorous and supportive environment.
There was a lot of emotion in the room by the end of the labour but with it being our first child the staff really did go above and beyond there duties and I personally feel all the staff deserve recognition but I would be very grateful that Hannah, Amy & Kylie really get the true recognition for their professionalism & hardwork so I am asking for SCM or Midwifey Management to please put these 3 people forward for a Star Award.
They were absolutely amazing, and we really just want to thank them and make sure they know we are extremely grateful for all their efforts on that morning.
