"Medical practice phone system"

About: General practices in Fife

(as a service user),

I have been trying to call my GP practice in Dunfermline for 3 days now. Each time I am held in a queue (usually starting at “you are number 15 in the queue”) I wait for around 40 minutes and then when I get to number 1 it just rings out without anyone answering the phone.

I have been in so much pain and unable to get to the surgery so really not sure what else to do but it makes me very worried about anyone who is more vulnerable.

Last month I had to phone a separate number for a prescription and it was an answering machine but the prescription wasn’t put to the chemist until 6 days later, by which point I had run out of stock. I find the reception staff are usually very rude once you do get through but this time round I am really worried as I feel so ill and am in so much pain and no one is answering.

Not being able to call you GP practice and get through must be very frustrating especially when you are in so much pain and I am sorry you were unable to get a prescription on time and found the reception staff rude. I am sorry you have not had a better experience and I hope you managed to get an appointment.
