"Excellent maternity care"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Delivery Suite Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Wheal Fortune (postnatal) Ward

(as a relative),

I wanted to write to you to express my gratitude to your team for the excellent care provided to my wife and newly arrived daughter on the delivery suite at RCHT.

We came for a planned (elective) C Section at the end of November. Having had a rather traumatic arrival of our son previously (emergency CS and 9 weeks in Neonatal care), we arrived with some trepidation.

The team were great - supportive, understanding and patient with us from beginning to end- excellent interaction with the surgical team who took time to talk my wife through what to expect and allowed us some music to improve our experience. The anaesthetists, Katherine, Lauren and Tariq were constantly beside her side, which helped no end with her experience. Theatre practitioners (I'm sorry I don't have your names) were calm, professional and quick to respond to any request for information from us). Your congratulations were greatly appreciated on our daughter's arrival and brought a tear to my eye!

The midwives and obstetricians were professional, sensitive and very kind - A special shout out to Rachel and Jacqui who were very supportive in giving my wife time to get to know our daughter and supported her with early care and breastfeeding.

Last but not least, thank you to Shaun and the trainee from recovery who came in to check my wife's recovery had gone well - these roles could easily have been skipped over but your reassuring words when recovering were great!

Thank you again to the neonatal team for coming in to check on our new arrival and their complete professionalism and sensitivity when considering the need for our daughter to stay in neonates - thank you!

I know the pressure your teams must have been under but they carried that burden heroically and showed us none of it on our visit.

Thank you to you all, you are all heroes to us.
