My mum has had some difficulty with her vision and was referred by a GP to the hospital for further checks for cataracts.
An appointment was received and attended. Following which she was advised there is no further action required. Subsequently she has received a further appointment for the hospital.
My mum phoned the number provided to cancel this appointment informing them, she had been advised by the hospital it wouldn't be required. The call centre in Wetherby advised her they are not specialist and are unable to determine if she still needs to attend so best to leave the appointment. She informed them she wouldn't be attending as she was confident the Dr at the hospital said it wasn't required. They told her to just ignore the letter then.
It is concerning patients are waiting for appointments and central call centres are not liaising with hospital appointments to check details and make appropriate cancellations.
