"The care they provided was exceptional"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Victoria Hospital / Trauma & Orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had the misfortune of breaking my ankle but the care that I received in the Royal Victoria Hospital from the second I came through the door was fantastic. From the staff in ED to the Nurse Practitioner and Physio staff in fracture clinic I knew that I was in good hands. My fracture required surgical fixation so I was admitted to ward 2E and I can not praise the ward staff highly enough. Even though they were rushed off their feet, nothing was too much for them - they even sang happy birthday to me as I was in hospital for my birthday. The care they provided was exceptional despite having extra beds opened on the ward and they always had time to listen to what was important to their patients and never made anyone feel that they were wasting their time and even joined in with some of the ‘interesting’ conversations that we were having in the bay.

They encouraged their patients to be as independent as possible but were always ready to step in and help if needed.

The 2E staff are truly amazing individuals and deserve more recognition than this brief message can possibly demonstrate.
