On visiting Christmas Eve, as requested by Dr Burrows from out of hours service, my husband has an eye problem which is very painful. We weren't told how long the waiting time would be. So far its Christmas morning, we have been here now for 8hrs and my husband has only been at triage. There are 3 other patients before my husband, apparently, as he is in the same category. Well what is the category?
We do understand that there are ambulances coming in with real life threatening emergencies...but come on Wishaw general, maybe you could think of a better way to run your department. I have seen your poor receptionists get it in the neck from some people waiting. Not fair.
Why can you not have a designated doctor who deals with these non life threatening categories? Get them seen and get them out of A & E as quick as possible. Makes sense to me and I'm sure a lot of other people would agree. I think it is an utter disgrace to have people waiting that length of time. In my opinion, there is no excuse for the sick not being attended to in a time frame of say 2 hours.
It is an absolute shambles.
