I tested positive for COVID this week. Going by past experience and being clinically extremely vulnerable, I knew I would be very ill from COVID unless I got antiviral treatment ASAP. After reporting the positive COVID test, Doc Gemma phoned and went through my medical history then booked me in for antiviral treatment.
I received 3 days of IV antivirals in the Mater COVID Outpatient and Treatment Service.
Eddie, Des and Connor were absolutely amazing. I was very unwell for the first two days and was made to feel at home whilst receiving top notch treatment. Everyone was so helpful, they couldn’t have done more. I felt low and they cheered me up, it was a lovely relaxed, yet professional and caring environment. I had a temperature - which was very well monitored and I was at ease knowing these guys were looking after me.

It’s unbelievable that they risk their safety to make COVID-positive individuals better - whilst having a laugh and cheering us up.
My heartfelt thanks goes to the team, I left with a smile, feeling significantly better and with the knowledge that these antivirals stopped me from getting far worse. In my view, these guys need a medal, they see the true extent of COVID and its devastating effects.
