"These members of staff are an asset"

About: Maternity care (Ward 31) / Labour suite maternity Maternity care (Ward 31) / Maternity care (Ward 31)

(as a service user),

At the end of November my waters broke 1 week early, I phoned the triage at the RAH and spoke to a very kind midwife on the phone who suggested I come up and get checked. Being a first time mum I was extremely anxious and worried about labour and delivery. From arriving at triage everyone was extremely lovely and kind putting my mind in ease. One midwife Marisa explained everything to me exceptionally well and chatted with myself and my partner until a bed came up in labour ward.

On arriving to labour ward I was looked after by midwifes Laura and Jemma and Gael on nightshift. Again the care and compassion showed to myself my partner and my mum was exceptional especially at a time you feel very vulnerable. I was kept fully updated on my progression in labour and all questions I had were answered honestly and professionally. I will be forever grateful to Jemma and Gael ensuring my son was delivered safely into this world.

I was then moved to ward 31 and Chelsea and Jenna on nightshift, Lesley, Victoria, Arleen the MCA and Jayne HCSW took great care of me and my son. Nothing I asked for was too much.

Being a nurse myself I was extremely anxious being in hospital and scared of the unknown of becoming a new mum but all the staff above made my experience truly special. These members of staff are an asset to the NHS and the midwifery team at the RAH.

Dear decemberhj36

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such lovely feedback regarding your experience of attending the Maternity Department of the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Firstly I would like to congratulate you on the birth of your son. You and your partner must be absolutely delighted.

I can completely understand you being apprehensive about the labour and delivery of your baby as a first time mum. These are normal emotions for anyone to go through in your position so to hear you were offered support and guidance throughout by the nursing staff was extremely heart warming.

I was happy to hear any questions.you had were answered by the staff in a professional and caring nature.

I have passed on your thanks to the Maternity Team who have asked me to thank you for such kind words, this really means a lot to the staff.

I hope your recovering well back at home and enjoying spending time with your son and partner.

Merry Christmas

Kevin
