"Dying with Dignity"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Medicine (wards 8, 10, 11, 14, 18 & 27)

(as a relative),

My very frail father-in-law in his nineties was taken into ward 27 mid October with multiple ailments The ward was always very busy and at times we felt his care was lacking due to him being so frail. He took a turn for the worse, struggling to talk or even breathe.  He had pneumonia and had had this previously confirmed by X-ray.

On this afternoon doctors on the ward decided he should have a stomach x-ray due to pain in his abdomen.  He was x-rayed at 16:20 and was alive, however when he was returned to ward at 18:00 hours he had passed and no one knows when.  As a family we are deeply disturbed by these events and feel he deserved dignity in his passing.  The ward assured us that an investigation would ensue but nearly 2 months on we have heard nothing from the RAH and NHS.  Surely we deserve some sort of closure as a grieving family?
