I was admitted to A&E after a long wait in an ambulance outside Crosshouse A&E Dept
I was taken into resus then a room A&E Dept where my care by the nurses was exemplary plus the auxiliary staff, porters & domestics were all well mannered, pleasant & very helpful.
My care was exemplary from all the staff I encountered whilst in this department.
However, I personally felt my condition worsened due to the length of time it took for me to get into the actual hospital. The bed waits are not something new, neither are they a by product of Covid 19 this has been an ongoing issue for many many years, there were plans for a new super hospital to be built that would hopefully be fit for purpose & big enough to accommodate the ever rising public numbers that it is supposed to serve within Ayrshire & Arran .. Crosshouse hospital most definitely is not by any stretch of the imagination big enough for the community it is supposed to serve now .. this is a grave concern for the public who rely on this invaluable service. It begs the question why have things been allowed to fall into such a dire state .. it’s not the staff who actually help the patients that are at fault here, it’s very much so those up top to blame for this debacle.
I was transferred to ward 3B annexe where yet again I found my care to be exemplary from all nursing, Auxiliary & domestic staff, however, I was disgusted at the total waste of money that I witnessed, starting small the little pill tub dispensers - one use - has soap & water become a thing of the past that we with a "struggling NHS” can afford to simply bin these .. that is an abhorrent waste of the publics money!
I know that that will only be the tip of the iceberg regarding wasting money!
I witnessed much waste .. & I have witnessed it in the past as well.. this kind of waste is minuscule in comparison, I fear & to be honest it’s disgusting.
I would like for everyone involved in my care & wellbeing made aware of my gratitude to them, I did voice this to them all in person as I left but, you don’t see all shifts to enable that personal touch for all of them.
"The care was exemplary but improvements are needed"
