(as a relative),

My husband fell from ladders back in September and thought he had broken ribs and punctured his lung. Thankfully after calling 999 the ambulance arrived within around 15 minutes. Within a short time they called for a medical one. The four who attended my husband were fantastic and within a short time he was on his way to A&E. He had ruptured his spleen and was bleeding internally but was treated immediately and the care he received was excellent.

After 11 days he was discharged but was still poorly, on hindsight he was released too soon. Within 2 weeks I had to take him back to A&E.  He was seen pretty quickly and yet again the staff were excellent.  He was admitted and was in for 4 weeks, undergoing a procedure then later surgery. All in all he was in HDU, Major Trauma,  ward 102 and 106.

The care he received was excellent and I can't thank the staff enough for all that they do. We witnessed some awful treatment of staff by visitors and patients which is totally unacceptable. The NHS is definitely bursting at the seams, underfunded and over-used but the staff never show the stress to patients.

Without such amazing people my husband wouldn't be here, I thank you and keep doing what you are doing.

Dear herculeszw48

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback here on Careopinion. I am so sorry to read about your husband's experience. My goodness, what a time he has been through and it's great to read about the remarkable progress he has made. This would show his strength of character and what a fighter he is.

If you would like your kind comments to be passed on to our crew I would be more than happy to arrange this for you. If so, please may I ask you contact us at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your husband's name, address and date of when we attended. Please may we also ask you make reference to your Care Opinion username which will allow us to link to this story.

From all of us here at The Scottish Ambulance Service, we wish you and your husband the very best and continued good health

Lesley

I would like to thank you for these kind words. Things are indeed tough at the moment but this gave me and the teams at RIE a reminder of why we do what we do. I hope your husband is recovering now and that you have a good Christmas time. I have shared this feedback with all of the nursing teams on the site and I am sure they will be pleased they have made a difference for you at this time.

Thank you.

Michelle
