"Prescription times"

About: General practices in Forth Valley

(as the patient),

My issue is with the time it takes from prescription request to pharmacy collection which is at least 1 week.  The reason for this I believe is when you call in your prescription with my GP practice no other doctor but your own can sign off on this. So for example if you call on a Monday and your doctor is not back the  surgery until Thursday your prescription will not be signed off until the Thursday.

So this can take until the Friday or the following week before your prescription is ready for collection. Although I try to put my prescription in early to avoid running out of any medication I have had instances were I have needed something asap and have had to wait for over a week going without. I don’t know if anyone else at any other practice that has this time scale problem.
