"Excision of Cancerous Basal and Squamous Cell Carcinoma's"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Dermatology

(as the patient),

I attended this afternoon and Dr Kaloglian, Lisa, Hilary and Judith were all very friendly and attentive.  However I was very startled to find the amount of questioning that they were obliged to deliver prior to treatment.

Much of it felt totally unnecessary and repetitive and gave the impression that it was all designed to ensure that no criticism whatsoever could ever be levelled at the NHS or its hospital.  I have had many Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) excised in the past in various hospitals but there was never this level of bureaucracy involved which seemed to me to be wasting a great deal of these ladies' time.  I now understand why the NHS has such a backlog!

My treatment was entirely satisfactory and  I am delighted to be rid of these unsightly growths.

Hello Annasdad

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback, we can only improve services with the help of our patients.

We know there are lots of checks that are repetitive, but need to be done for every patient, this is following feedback and incidents. We have changed our practice to ensure the safety of the patient and ensuring all the paperwork and the samples sent for testing have the relevant information on the sample pot.

As you say this all takes up valuable time, but we need to ensure the safety of the patients, not only in our care at the time but also if they need further treatment in the future.

I'm glad you had a good experience, I will ensure the staff mentioned have a copy of this and we wish you well in your recovery.
