"A herniated disc in my back"

About: Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

At Easter I was doubled up in pain from my back and the most dreadful sciatica. Its' onset was sudden and painkillers just didn't work. After a few days, I went to see my GP who referred me to the Musculoskeletal assessment service (MCATTS) at Guys and St Thomas. My GP said I would been seen within 2 weeks. After waiting almost two weeks, I rang the clinic. It was an awful experience the person who answered was unsympathetic but did give me a date a further three weeks in the future. She told me it was that or nothing so I said to leave it and I looked up private physio services.

I decided to complain. I'm really glad I did. The service manager was fantastic. She got me seen that afternoon by the most wonderful physio who has treated me for the last few weeks. I'm back on my feet and hardly lost any time from work ( as she had evening appointments). A fantastic service once you get through the door.
