I was impressed by the surroundings and enthusiasm of the staff. The ward was clean and the meal after my operation very satisfactory. The TV was free and I was able to use the telephone by my bedside at no charge. As well as this i was impressed by the kindness of staff who assisted with my travel arrangements. Clinicaly unfortunately the operation was delayed for 40 minutes as the consultant was called to Out Patiens midway through the operating day. This resulted in him being delayed in writing up post-op notes which in turn led to some delay and confusion when being discharged. There was poor communication with the ward staff who appeared stressed and confused at times. When I rang the 24 hour help line after I came home the nurse answering was a littl curt and abrupt. I feel that overall it was a positive experience - staff allocation has to be better supervised and communication improved.
