I would like to express my admiration for the way in which treatment and care is administered within the Pain Clinic. My consultant is calm, caring and very knowledgable. Many hospitals are under constant criticism but I would like to buck that trend. Since contracting cancer eight years ago, the support and care that I have received in various departments of the hospital has been exemplary. Having spent so much time in and out of hospital I feel qualified to review the care that I have received. I think that a lot of the essential and critical work that goes on is not only never seen (histology/pathology etc etc) by the patients. This work is vital in determining causation as well as cure. I for one am eternally grateful to every single Consultant and their support staff as well as the nursing and background teams that all perform superbly in very demanding conditions. I for one work on a newspaper and I would simply like to say that I have never experienced any of the popular criticisms, and remain grateful and indebted to the committed professionals that not only saved my life, but continue to allow me to live and work it.
