Anything else?
I had an op to repair some damage and after 2 days was discharged but the discharge doctor forgot to prescribe anti clotting medicine, 3 days later I was rushed back in with a large hematoma that was infected with a number of other related issues and spent nearly 2 weeks in hospital spending time on 4 different wards. All bar one doctor was great. Most of the nurses were wonderful too. But at night there was not enough of them. Bells at night go unanswered for an average of 45 minutes, which meant many of the ladies on my ward kept wetting themselves which was mortifying for them and in turn made more work for the poor over stretched nurses and HCA's. The medicine trolleys on all wards kept being left unattended even though the nurses have do not disturb tabards on... Why? Because there is not enough staff. Toilets were filthy too. I was lucky because I was young and could hobble(ish) to the toilet, but the elderly couldn't and were left waiting for a free nurse to help. In conclusion, it is not the staff's fault but never call the bell at shift change over and night, there is not enough staff!
