"Our mum has been in for 8weeks now, we where told..."

About: University Hospital Aintree

Anything else?

Our mum has been in for 8weeks now, we where told she needed 24 hr care now & was given a list of homes, the family are devastated especially my dad, we found a good care home not far from my dad and where very pleased.. Unfortunately my mum has bone cancer, dementia & went in with a stroke so is unable to use her right side, as a family we have turns to go in & help feed mum. Twice she was ready to go to her new home but bloods proved she was dehydrated, several times we have asked for the staff to give her drinks, there is no point in just putting a drink in front of her because with her dementia she doesn't understand so has to be encourage & put the juice in her hand, the only drinks she gets are when we as a family give them to her which is proved it's not enough, we just want our mum out of there.

We're very sorry to hear of your mum's position - we do offer support to patients and relatives who require transfer to care homes. If you are having any issues then please contact our customer services team at customerservice@aintree.nhs.uk so that they can take this further for you and help your mum and yourselves. In terms of help for your mum on the ward we would certainly offer this - again, if you prefer to raise it with customer services then they will be happy to take this up for you.
