Anything else?
Today I saw a consultant I have been seeing for two years who has been treating my lymphoma .Due to accurate diagnosis and treatment I have been free from this horrible malady for 18 months. The staff and Dr in this department have been sympathetic .supportive and answered all my difficult questions in a calm and friendly atmosphere throughout my treatment. My wife has attended my reviews and treatment and everybody has bent over backwards to put her at ease. The physical aspect of treatment is of course crucial but what is equally important is what is happening in your head. By having frank ,open and supportive conversations with your consultant is equally healing. The media seems to gorge on negativity in the NHS I thought it was about time that one of the silent majority spoke out in support of the hard working dedicated staff that makes a significant difference to peoples lives .Rather than just doing their jobs they go that extra step which makes all the difference to sick and worried patients. I do not know if you have a monthly doctor and department award but this one gets gets my vote.
