"I came home with a spring in my step"

About: Duchy Court inpatient ward

(as the patient),

I suffer with depression, anxiety and bi-polar.

With the bi-polar condition my mood was very low. I was reluctant to take up the consultants advice of a room. There is a part of me crying out for help and treatment. When I stopped thinking of only me and looked at my family, I realised I was putting them through hell with worry.

On the Thursday morning I was collected by my C. P. N and she drove me to Duchy. A male nurse (staff) showed me to my room and offered me a cup of tea (very welcome).

The Duchy court unit has separate accommodation for male and female wings.

All staff were very helpful and kind, always a smile and a few words.

I was a patient for one month. Through fellow patients I learnt a lot.

All in all a very good stay and I came home with a spring in my step.
