"Closure of Ilkeston Family Practice and GP Walk In Centre"

About: NHS 111 NHS Erewash CCG NHS North Derbyshire CCG NHS Southern Derbyshire CCG

(as the patient),

Four year's ago healthcare in Ilkeston took a huge step forward, with the opening of a GP Walk In Centre. Open 12 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, the service was a popular and well-liked service, supporting young and old.

As well as a walk in centre, it was also a GP Centre, providing easy and quick access to see a doctor. Then suddenly, in November 2012, news broke through the media of the closure of the centre, with no consultation with patients. The centre closed on 28 February.

Since then, impossible to get an appointment with any doctor in the local area within 48 hours, 111 continues to provide a poor service, providing conflicting information, and in the meantime, we are being told through local media to use our local Walk In Centre rather than A&E... just a shame it is a 25 mile round trip away. NHS Derbyshire / NHS Erewash CCG failed to listen to it patients.
