What I liked
As soon as I arrived in A & E by foot (it was the day of dangerously windy weather and ambulances were too busy to come for me) the triage nurse made sure that I was rushed through to majors, where I was diagnosed very rapidly as having had a stroke, albeit minor. The stroke team swung into action and I realised that I was to be cared for professionally and humanely.I needed just one night on Mark ward and was cheered by the bonhomie and care of all the staff there.Should a. stroke event ever happen again then I have no doubt that I will be in the best possible hands .
What could be improved
Nothing comes to mind. The ward was kept clean, food was excellent and, amazingly, all of the staff were cheerful.I even enjoyed meeting the many students who came to take my history- who had asked my permission first, of course. The chaplaincy visited me as soon as they "got the call"(three of them ).The nurses were even concerned that my feet were overhanging the foot of my bed ! How could I find any fault with that standard of care. Thank you," Tommy's".
