Anything else?
I had shoulder surgery fairly recently, the day staff, and one night nurse, were excellent and really gave me confidence. However the night staff were more of a problem. Post-operatively I was stuck on bed rest, I dropped my kindle during the night and asked a nurse if she could retrieve it for me. She said 'nope can't be done' and that was that. Another nurse got it for me. I needed to pass urine, I was told I had to have a bed pan. I was anxious because I have a big bladder & the bed pan was small. The nurse who brought it said I should have been up to use the commode,. I was keen but she then refused as she had the bedpan. It overflowed, I was embarrassed. But the worst thing of all was that the same nurse who would not retrieve my Kindle was then mouthing & later saying from across the ward 'accident'. I have never felt so humiliated. Had I not just had surgery I would have followed it up, but I was too mortified and could not wait to leave when I was discharged that morning.
"It's the nursing really!"
