"Wheelchair parking in the Hospital"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

Anything else?

I have recently visited Suites 4 & 9 and in both removal of a few chairs to allow the parking of wheelchairs would ease the movement of people. I have never seen all the chairs in use but in the space of less than an hour I saw the main thoroughfare blocked by wheelchairs being brought in on numerous occasions. As many of the out-patients need ferrying by wheelchair it is imperative the the free access of the internal space is maintained by provision of somewhere to leave wheelchair patients. This is obviously a fire hazard and action would be demanded by the Fire service. The other services seem to be well run and deserving of 5 star praise.

Thanks for your comments - especially as the Trust suffered a major fire in 2011. It is always worth reminding us where we falling down in health & safety issues - not to mention how chaotic this can sometimes look to our patients and their carers. Obviously pleased however that the rest of your experience was far better. Kind regards Sarah Turner-Saint, Head of Communications
