"Now a 8-10 week wait to see someone else. My health condition is urgent."

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a service user),

1) GP said she would refer me to Donnington Dermatology Clinic (no choice given of where I wanted to go)

2) Letter from TRAQS received to say you've passed the referral to Donnington Dermatology Clinic

3) Toward the end of March receive a letter from Donnington Dermatology clinic to say a dermatology consultant will look at my letter and either I will be sent an appointment or me/GP will receive a letter advising otherwise.

4) Toward the end of April - Call the lady on the letter (above) she says I will be seen at Donnington and don't call anymore and wait for my appointment letter.

5) No appointment letter received. Call back and find out a letter was written end of March, by the department to say he can't see me. It was never sent!

6) GP refers me again via TRAQS. Now a 8-10 week wait to see someone else. My health condition is urgent.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback to the TRAQS team.

I am sorry to read of your experience but perhaps I can clarify some details.

The Community Dermatology Clinic at Donnington Medical Practice is run by Consultants but they are not able to see all dermatology patients as they do not have the same facilities as a hospital. As PRH and RSH have a capacity issue relating to dermatology appointments patients are not currently seen at PRH however, the majority of dermatology patients who would have been seen at PRH/RSH can been seen at Donnington and receive their treatment there too.

If is unfortunate that your condition is not able to be treated at Donnington but the consultant will review the referral letter from your GP and bring the appointment forward if they feel it is clinically necessary. In the meantime if your condition worsens the best course of action would be to arrange an appointment with your GP and if they agree they can write to the consultant explaining the changes and request an earlier appointment for you.

I hope that you receive an appointment shortly.

Thanks you again for contacting me to give feedback.
