"waiting for a referral"

Dec 2010 I went for an eye test at my opticians, resulting in them writing to my doctors for a referral for tests for possible glaucoma. Due to quite a few major personal issues I forgot all about it, and never heard anything about an appointment. I went back to the opticians in Dec 2012 for my two year checkup and was asked what the outcome was from the hospital. I explained that I had never heard anything, to which they stated that they would write to my doctors again as I needed further tests still. I asked my Dr in Jan 2013, Mar 2013 and again in Apr 2013 as to what was happening as I heard nothing where I was assured that I had been referred. I received a call from TRAQS in early May 2013, who informed me that they had not received a referral from my Dr's until that month. This was nearly two and a half years later.

I am sorry to hear that your GP did not refer you when they said they would. Unfortunately TRAQS can only process referrals when they're received from the GP. We aim to contact the patient to offer Choice within 5 working days of receiving the referral.

Due to data protection we do not receive any information which allows us to identify patients responding via Patient Opinion so I am unable to make any specific comments relating to your referral experience.
