"Fantastic."

About: Wansbeck Hospital

Anything else?

I had shoulder surgery after 9 years of complaining to the NHS about pain. They were fantastic. They reccomended i stayed awake as i could watch the operation take place, and i am so glad i did. I started to panic a little and my heart rate was raised when i went to anasthetics but i didnt want to be knocked out by the sedative. The staff just gave me a little bit and after that i was fine. Every member of staff was professional and polite, and i actually had a great day.

Dear Rachel, I hope you are recovering well at home and not troubled by too much pain in your shoulder. Thank you for sharing your story of our care. Undergoing surgery of any nature can be a naturally anxious time for many of our patients. I am delighted that you were provided with the right information and support to enable you to feel confident and in control at this time. It was lovely to read that you had such ‘great day’ with us - I imagine it is easier to recover when you have a much greater awareness of what has happened to you by staying awake throughout the procedure. Take good care of yourself and your shoulder and thanks again for taking the time to get in touch. With best wishes, Annie Annie Laverty – Director of Patient Experience.
