On the advice of 111 and having failed to get an appointment with our GP, I accompanied my teenage son to A&E; he was suffering from a very sore and inflamed throat, was running a fever and feeling nauseous. All the staff with whom we had contact were superb; my son was treated promptly with care, compassion and absolute professionalism. The triage staff were thorough and reassuring, taking the time to provide him with much needed pain relief. The Doctor could not have been more caring; although unable to make a definitive diagnosis then and there, she took the time to explain all the likely ailments and ran blood tests for all. I was particularly impressed that, having received the results of the blood tests, the Doctor personally rang my son the next day with the results and a firm diagnosis. This only confirms my view of Frimley as an excellent hospital. I myself spent a week there last year and was treated with the utmost care and compassion by everyone, including the ambulance crew who took me in. One group of people however deserve special mention – the care assistants who are the unsung heroes – they could not have been more caring and courteous, despite some of more demanding patients with whom they had to deal! To quote my son “aren’t we lucky in this country to have the NHS and people like those in Frimley”.
