What I liked

Apart from my operation being postponed at the last minute my experience was 100% positive.

I had a 3x bypass on Friday 10 Nov 2006 which went according to plan--no dramas. I was awakened once for a couple of minor tests then re-sedated until the Saturday morning. I managed to get out of bed and sit down. After being moved to the High Dependency Unit I walked unaided on the Sunday.

I rapidly recovered and had regular painkillers and nebulisers, to open my lungs. All staff were fantastic in what must be quite a high pressure and stressful environment.

The fact that I was discharged only 5 days after the operation is proof enough of the skill and dedication of all involved.
