"Distresses ignored by doctors, nurses and..."

About: Watford General Hospital

Anything else?

I have been suffering from what still remains to be an unknown and undiagnosed illness constantly for over 4 months. Every NHS member I have interacted with have dismissed my statements of having difficulty with bodily functions including breathing. Getting any sorts of scans and tests done has been ridiculously slow and delayed and I am left in the dark as to what happens next. My illness has not been getting any better and frankly, is getting gradually worse. Several trips to A&E in previous months were dismissed, despite the persistent symptoms. They won't take any actual action until I turn up in hospital spewing blood from every orifice, while on fire! And that's if they decide to send me to the right area to wait first! The paperworks I have been given have no information in regards to contacting the appropriate specialist I have seen. Even the notes taken from the appointment with the specialist contain wrong information; stating I have been suffering for less time than I actually have been! Heaven forbid, if I end up becoming incurable because of the delays and the lack of attention from the NHS staff involved, there will be trouble.

Hi James - thank you for taking the time to comment on your, regrettably, frustrating experience with us at the Trust to date of writing. We’re always concerned to hear of any patients who are unhappy with the care and service they have received, and issues of this nature are taken very seriously. Without full details of your specific case and our commitment to patient confidentiality it is difficult to comment here. But the importance of a wholly positive, and respectful, patient experience is one of our key objectives, and the issue of communication between our staff and patients is a fundamental area we’re working hard to improve in. If you are willing, we know that our senior clinical colleagues will wish to investigate your concerns, so we can look into what went wrong for you, and why. Apart from giving you some answers, if would also help put things right if we can. Therefore if you are willing to do so, please contact us directly at wherts-tr.complaintsteam@nhs.net . We will aim to thoroughly investigate these issues promptly, and provide you with a detailed response.
