Anything else?
I had my first baby on 10th May in MK hospital and have to say I was a little nervous as I had read a few negative things regarding maternity unit. The fears were totally unfounded as I had excellent care from all staff in all departments. My case was complicated as I went for a water birth and originally wanted only gas and air but halfway through I wanted more pain relief so got out the birthing pool. Being heavy and clumsy and having a previous elbow injury which made it weak, I dislocated my elbow getting out- this was a complete accident and unavoidable, so no fault at all of the hospital. I therefore had to stay out of the water and give birth with a dislocated elbow. The midwives were amazing, really helpful and efficient and made sure that even as i was still giving birth that the Orthopaedic doctors were helping me as well. After the birth (which went smoothly) I was taken to theatre and had my elbow sorted, then I was put back into a private room with private bathroom and shower, where my other half was waiting for me with our daughter. The staff offered to let us stay the night but we wanted to go home and were discharged that afternoon. I have since visited the fracture clinic as well a couple of times and I have to say between all visits I cannot complain at all about the staff or facilities. They are all very helpful, friendly and professional with no exceptions. The community midwives who have came out to see us have also been brilliant, offering practical advice and help. I would recommend MK hospital any day to friends and family.
"Amazing staff, excellent experience"
