"My 6 year old Son went in for ..."

About: The Royal London Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

My 6 year old Son went in for a tonsillectomy and was allocated a bed on Ocean Ward. I was really impressed with the level of care he received from all the Nurses, Doctors, Consultants, Pharmacists, in fact everyone we came in contact with was really helpful.

There was plenty of opportunity for us all to ask questions, and we were really confident he was in the best hands. One of us was able to stay with him right until he was under the anesthetic.

What could be improved

The hospital seriously needs updating. When we were walking through to the theatre, the concrete floor was literally crumbling in places.

Some parts of the hospital are filthy. The bottles of hand wash outside the children's ward we were in were empty.

We think children should stay in 24 hours after surgery. We left too soon, and ended up having to come back because of post op bleeding.
