"I visit womens outpatients at ..."

About: The Royal London Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I visit womens outpatients at Barts a few times a year, the last visit was in April 2008. I receive consistently excellent care there from all staff, the unit sisters are always friendly and helpful and always help with questions. The standard of hygeine really is excellent. There is shared clinical area and patient toilet which is spotless and the waiting area is airy and welcoming. On the one occasion where there was a long delay the nurses made the patients tea. I've seen many medical staff there over the years, and the care is fantastic.

What could be improved

You cannot change outpatient appointments for womens outpatients by calling the central outpatient number. One time I couldn't find the number and tried calling central appointments - gave up eventually as the queue was too long, and emailed them to get a reply telling me to call the department direct as they couldn't help. You can find the number online - but its not that easy. The direct number doesn't feature on the appointment letters.
