"Nurse and Doctors: No complaints ..."

About: Chelsea & Westminster Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Nurse and Doctors: No complaints regarding treatment and care. I think they are overstretched making it hard to give enough prompt attention to the elderly patients, who were sometimes quite distressed..Perhaps they could have helpers, who could be available for mealtimes and bedtimes to offer help and company for the elderly patients.

What could be improved

I was disappointed in the cleanliness on the ward, namely:The adjustable bedside tray/table was horribly sticky underneath, and when I asked the cleaner to do it, it was done halfheartedly and inefficiently. The armchair by the bed had all kinds of food and pills down the sides, and the cleaner listened to me but did nothing about it in the five days I was there. The shower room had the same pile of wet towels and hospital robes in it for 24 hours, and no bin bag to put them in.The nearest toilet to the ward was often wet on the floor along with piles of paper towels and overflowing bins. The light cord is black and grubby. One morning, two days after I had seen an inspector point out the mess, I went to the toilet at 6am, and my pyjama bottoms became wet with somebody's urine which was all over the floor, along with wet towels and old rubber gloves.
