I had a hysterectomy ten years ago, my stay was adequate, the job was done. Unfortunately, what I wasn't told was that I may, in time, develop problems such as a prolapse.
I did develop this problem. I had a prolapsed bladder, bowel and vaginal wall. I then had to undergo last year a sacrospinous fixation to repair the above. The repair was completed, not by my consultant as they said they would, but by another doctor I had never met. I left hospital after two weeks, eight weeks later my prolapse was back.
The prolapse was classed as a grade 3 which means it protrudes out of the vagina. On going back to see my consultant, who seemed to do everything they could to avoid me, they admitted they had not repaired my bladder prolapse, because when they lifted my vaginal wall, the cystocele disappeared. I could not believe what I was hearing. They showed no empathy at all.
I have been referred to another hospital. I have no faith in the Liverpool Women's hospital. I felt vulnerable with this consultant.
I have had to take time off work yet again, until I am fit to go back. I feel my life has been ruined by this consultant, who has left me incontinent.
