"Endoscopy unit"

About: St Helier Hospital

Anything else?

I was given a gastroscopy. Apart from a slight wait of about 20 minutes I was treated very well. A kindly and cheerful nurse put me at my ease, listened to my concerns and sorted out the canula. After a throat spray and lying down I knew no more until I was waking up in a recovery room where I was checked on and when I felt OK was accompanied to a waiting room for tea and biscuits and then to see a nurse about my results. This was a big improvement on the last time I had this procedure 6 years ago when I was awake for it despite having a sedative. I cannot fault the staff.
