Operation day: Early start, staff all very professional and I was soon ready for theatre.
Met staff from day surgery who would care for me later.
Walked to theatre suite, reassured at every step. Theatre staff very friendly and even had a student nurse to hold my hand while they injected the local anaesthetic; this was the only painful bit and really gripped her hand.
She stayed with me throughout my time in theatre, chatting and taking my mind off what was going on behind the screen. Greatly appreciated that.
Transferred to day surgery unit and given a hot drink and something to eat, treated with dignity at all times.
Two weeks later, removal of stitches at St Ann's medical cente: Friendly nurse, competent and quick. Was in and out in 6 minutes. Wonderful.
