"Lack of care"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

Anything else?

This year I was referred to mk hospital, I arrived on the ward and Doctor prescribed medications promptly. I waited nearly 2hours for the prescribed treatment to be given by a Nurse. During the same week I required dressings, due to broken blisters. I was given dressings on a table, and had to dress my own skin. This was most dressings and not acceptable considering I was a inpatient. I mentioned daily that I needed clean dressings, I was either ignored, or not taken seriously, and instead given more dressings in the form of a roll of tape and swabs on the side table, I again had to dress my own skin, it was most distressing and unpleasant. My mum also had to dress my skin during visits. My skin was not monitored. I was seen as a independent. So I'm guessing this is the reason why they just didn't bother. This happened last year during on the same ward with the same skin condition. I made a complaint and in the response. It said if I was an inpatient in the future the skin would be dressed and monitored on a skin chart. This clearly didn't happened. There is a lack of urgency, it is understandable nurses are overworked and busy. However it's not acceptable for a inpatient to dress there own broken skin. I was also promised a management plan for many months, one Matron promised and updated on the progress. I was assured a draft had been written. Mainly to stop poor care in the future. Another Matron offered a management plan, while an inpatient she visited often. She offered to write a another draft as she was unable to see the original draft. since then I have been told I'm not aloud to speak to this matron and all communication has been restricted. It's so serious that I have had to report the hospital to the Ombudsman, and CCG. I'm also not aloud to call the complaints department so I don't get any support during a complaint. They only communicate via email or letter, which is usually a long delay. I have lost faith with my local hospital. It's mainly due to making many complaint after receiving poor care. My family and I think they restricted communication due to making too many complaints about unacceptable poor care. When I was discharged I was promised dressing to take home, they didn't give me the dressings. My family had to buy dressings at a local pharmacy. Costing £31 The Sister also asked during discharged where do you live I said not far and told her the name of the place.she said you could walk home it isn't far. I was so angry by her comment, but didn't want to say. I have walking difficulties, and use a walking aid. I thought her comments were unacceptable my family were very angry by her comment. Since being discharged district nurses have dressed my skin, they have been excellent.
