Last Sunday I rang the L&D hospital and was told by a very understanding nurse to come to A&E. I was assessed very quickly - within 30 minutes (given an ECG & general check over). In just over an hour later I was taken through to an A&E bed, had a cannula/intravenous line put in, given morphine & then a saline drip for dehydration. I also had two xrays taken within the hour. The nurses were so fast at getting things sorted for me, so caring & knowledgable. I was taken to the holding ward & within an hour moved to the hospital ward. Over night I was closely monitored, given pain killers, glucose, meds for my stomach lining all via the cannula & continued on the saline drip. The next morning at 8am a total wonderful doctor came to see me. A few hours later, I was taken to theatre. The staff were really good at quickly fixing up the nasogastric intubation, sorting out the vomiting & giving me gas & air which was great because I didnt have time to think about it. I came round from the general without any problems & the staff where so very kind. Throughout the night, every hour, I had my pulse/blood pressure checked & continued with pain killers, glucose, meds for my stomach lining & continued on the saline drip by the hard working, kind nurses on the ward. I was discharged on Wednesday evening. All of the staff in A&E, in the ward & theatre staff were so helpful, kind, understanding & made things happen quickly. I couldnt praise the surgeon enough, he was absolutely outstanding & genuinely cared.
"Outstanding care"
