"They have really stepped up their game"

I had a wonderful birth and experience at the MLU at new cross, my baby was delivered by midwife Val at 00: 50. I arrived at hospital with 45 minutes to spare, I was seen quickly and supported the whole time.

The midwife was very reassuring and helped calm me down. I felt empowered and much more at ease. She listened to everything I had to say, offered advice and went straight away to fill the pool which meant I got to have the water birth I always dreamed of.

It was the most special moment of my life and after my first birth was so traumatic, this time round doing it without pain relief helped to heal the emotional scars from the first time round and I owe it to the midwife, I cannot say thank you enough.

My only wish was that I could have had chance to say it in person (had to see doctor after birth just for a check) everyone was so professional and calming- every woman should experience this. I also thought that the aftercare was brilliant, constantly being checked on by midwives who always introduced themselves and made sure I was ok, supported by midwives and responded to quickly. Offered breast feeding support. It was the best experience! With my first breast feeding support I did not feel was good, but this time round they have really stepped up their game. So thank you Val and staff at New Cross your support has meant more than you can ever know x
