"Really good care"

About: Kettering General Hospital

Anything else?

I was recently an inpatient at KGH, requiring urgent orthopaedic surgey. The care was excellent, from A&E right through to outpatients after my discharge. The doctors in A&E were incredibly busy, but the one I saw explained everything really well and the nursing staff were both kind and efficient. The xray staff were gentle and quick, the porters chatty and helped me to relax as they transfered me in the dead of night to the ward. The night nursing staff were quietly efficient, monitoring me carefully all night and the Consultant surgeon came to see me the next morning and detailed the surgery I required. I went to theatre that same afternoon and the theatre staff were lovely, doing everything they could to help me relax. Post -op my pain relief was handled very well; my daily needs well tended to and the food was GOOD!! Due to my condition I was very limited in my mobility, but nothing was too much trouble for the nurses and ancilliary staff. There was a bit of a delay getting a walking boot fitted due to poor communications, but that was the only hiccough. After my discharge, the first out patient appointment was a bit of an ordeal as they were running almost 2 hrs late, but when finally seen, the care was good. My follow-up is ongoing, but continues to be handled very well. I wanted to make this note as we hear so many scare stories in the press, so it's time someone shouted how good KGH is.
