"Manfield Day Surgery"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had surgery on my right wrist (De Quervain's Release) on 31st July and would like to say how friendly the staff were on Manfield Day Unit, particularly the young Nursing Assistant who wheeled me into the operating theatre and took my mind off the surgeons pulling away at my tendons by talking to me about work and other stuff.

I have now had 3 weeks off work recovering (1 more to go) and though I still cannot put any pressure on my hand or hold anything in my right hand I am hopeful once this pain goes I will no longer suffer any pain or swelling. If not...I'll be back! Though Mr Gidden at Northampton General Hospital and his team were so confident the operation would be a success did not want to see me as an outpatient.

Thank you to Mr Gidden & his team as well as the staff in Manfield Day Unit.
