About: National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery - Queen Square

Anything else?

It took 2 goes to get admitted to the hospital, the first date was cancelled due to norovirus and the 2nd time they did not have any beds! I was advised to get to the hospital as early as possible and wait in the admission lounge until a bed came free. I did this and was finally found a bed in the late afternoon. From then on it was plain sailing, I was treated courteously, all my treatment plan was explained in detail and the staff could not have been better (even if they were rushed off their feet). The neurosurgeon was a delightful man and the neurologist and his team were very caring. The food was really good (apart from the morning toast that was like rubber) and I would not hesitate in recommending the National to anyone.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experiences regarding your recent admission to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. I am sorry to hear that you were cancelled on two occassions due to infection and then a bed not being available. Unfortunately due to unpredictable emergency demand there can be occassions where electives admissions need to be changed but I would like to apologise that this happened to you on two occasions. I am also sorry to hear that you had to wait in the admission lounge until the afternoon on your day of admission. I am very pleased to hear that on admission the care you received was excellent and you had a positive experience. We have shared your comments with our team here. If you would like further investigation into your previous cancellations or there is anything further that you would like to add then please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 020 3447 3042 or by email to pals@uclh.nhs.uk.
