"Waited 6 weeks for an appointment, ..."

About: Northwick Park Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Waited 6 weeks for an appointment, as i had a lump in my breast. As i am young, was not marked as urgent by my gp, phoned a number of times, to try to talk to the breast department, to find out when my appointment would be. Ended up phoning in excess of 20 times, as the receptionist, didn't know where to direct my call, and the people she passed me to were equally clueless.

In the end went to a private hospital and diagnosed with breast cancer.

Finally got my appointment to northwick park and waited for an hour for my appointment, and found out the secretary i had given my refferal letter to hadn't passed it to the nurse, so i nearly missed the appointment.

Finally seen by a surgeon and was seen my oncologist, who told me i would be seen by the end of the week for treatment to start.

Then found out from the breast cancer nurses, wouldn't be seen in actual fact for another 3 weeks. Got my treatment done in essex at a different nhs hospital. They started treatment the following week.

What could be improved

So much i don't know where to start.
