About: West Middlesex University Hospital

Anything else?

I went to A&E on the 11th and 12th of May, I was 13 weeks pregnant. On the 11th I went in there with severe pain in my abdomen and felt extremely dizzy, I was given a sick bowl and waited to be seen which was a few hours seeing as I got there at 6pm. The nurses were absolutely lovely always checked up on me and gave me and anti sickness pill (which worked) after that I was told to lay down and was shortly seen by a doctor who scared me so much with him saying that I could be having an ectopic pregnancy or be on the verge of a miscarriage !! (This is my first pregnancy) he took some blood and put me on a drip and said another doctor will see me shortly, about 40 minutes later I was wheeled off onto ward into a separate room where this doctor told me I was probably constipated! (Probably being the operative word) he then discharged me even though I was still in pain. I then woke up with red raw skin all over my body and there was blood when I urinated and was still in pain and very uncomfortable, I took myself back down to A&E where receptionists where extremely rude and the doctors and nurses dismissed me and during these two occasions I was not given a scan or anything to check my baby's health. I was told by the doctor to govtovthe maternity ward and get a scan to be messed around by the people in A&E. one woman got my name wrong one minute it was Kayleigh the next it was Hayley, my name is neither of those. After being adamant that something had to be done they told EPU would call me on Monday to arrange a scan, they did call and I had a scan to show a healthy baby and I certainly was not having an ectopic pregnancy nor miscarrying. The EPU staff were lovely so very friendly and the fact I am young as well spoke to me properly and explained everything perfectly. I am disgusted at the fact I didn't get checked out properly by doctors regarding my baby's and my health and the fact I was scared to death at the thought of an ectopic pregnancy or miscarrying, really put me under a lot of stress!
