I was sent to hinchingbrooke by my gp for a suspected blood clot in my head. I was suffering with sever headaches and being heavily pregnant. Was admitted to aau where I was seen quickly by doctors and consultants. They all said the same thing that I needed an emergency MRI scan. This is where it all gets a bit confusing. Now I would think and emergency scan would be done quickly considering what the consultants thought the prognosis was. Unfortunately I was unable to communicate well because of the pain and was confused. I left aau and was admired to a ward for the elderly and stroke. This is night 2 and still no scan or neurologist. Day 4 comes and I finally have a scan and a promise of seeing the neurologist with the results. No such luck and still very poorly I ask a student doctor when I will be seen and they just don't know. Turns out there is no neurologist. I ask what my results are and she doesn't know as the consultants have gone home. Had to discharge myself so I could leave and go see the neurologist at addenbrooks. Luckily was seen extremely quickly and tested very quickly. The neurologist was appalled that they left a heavily pregnant woman in such a state for 4 days in an emergency situation.
