"Lack of care and nurses"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My mother recently had a 4 day stay at Scunthorpe General. During this time, she was spoken to like a leper by a nurse because she's a smoker. My mother also went to the nurses station to draw to their attention that 2 patients had been calling for help for a considerable time. There was one chap whose bed had collapsed with him in it and the other lady who needed a bedpan and ended up messing the bed seemingly due to lack of care and attention. The nurse told her to be quiet as she was on the phone. This is just a sample out of a day in the hospital and seemed commonplace. Most of the nurses she met just didn't seem to care and I don't think they should be doing that job. Bring back Matrons. They'll soon sort the wards out.
